SMACNA Speaks with President Obama on Energy Efficiency and Jobs

At a small, invitation-only roundtable with President Obama in Alexandria, Va., in December, Stan Kolbe, SMACNA director of legislation, spoke directly with the President on how energy efficiency tax incentives and public building retrofits have created jobs for SMACNA’s contractors.

At the Home Depot store meeting, comprised of area small business owners who specialize in energy efficiency, Mr. Kolbe also told the President that the Recovery Act’s residential tax credits have made a big difference in job creation for SMACNA firms. Also present at the event were Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Rep. James Moran (D-Va.-18th), Rep. Gerry Connelly (D-Va.-11th), and Alexandria Mayor William Euille.
